Police recognise community concerns over Silverdale Lodge

DYFED-POWYS POLICE have told this newspaper that they acknowledge the communities concerns around The Silverdale Lodge in Johnston, being used as accommodation for the homeless during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The comments from the force come after a video produced by The Herald this weekend, attracted a lot of attention on social media, with hundreds commenting on the video which was viewed by over 20 thousand people.

The film featured two security guards working at the lodge explaining that the public did not need to be concerned about the use of the premises.

The police said “We are continuing to work very closely with our partners at Pembrokeshire County Council with regard to community safety matters, including housing provision.

Silverdale Lodge is being discussed regularly and we do recognise that there have been some community concerns.

We are jointly working through a variety of measures to ensure that the residents and staff at the lodge, local businesses, plus the local Johnston community feel safe and supported during this unprecedented year for the county.

Officers from Milford Haven Neighbourhood Policing team are attending the location regularly as part of the joint working approach. These visits may not necessarily mean that incidents have taken place.
