Social worker Keeley humbled by unsung hero nomination

A PEMBROKESHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL Social Worker says she is ‘truly humbled and shocked’ to have been nominated for a prestigious unsung hero award.

Keeley Connor has been shortlisted for the Unsung Hero Award at the Western Telegraph Health & Care Awards 2020.

The awards celebrate Pembrokeshire’s healthcare heroes and the live awards show will be broadcast live online later this month.

Keeley works in Adult Social Services, having joined the Authority in August, 2018.

Her role in the Managed Care Team involves working with client groups such as adults with physical, learning, mental and/ or sensory difficulties.

The nomination for the award said: “Keeley is a social worker who approaches every case with passion and commitment and is always willing to go the extra mile for her service users.

“During Covid-19 Keeley has continued to go above and beyond to support her client to the best of her abilities.”

Keeley, originally from Tenby, said: “This nomination took me by complete surprise and I never ever expected to be nominated for such an award.

“I am grateful and humbled as I feel there are so many other suitable candidates for this award especially during this pandemic.

“This is indeed one of the most deeply joyful moments of my life.”

Councillor Tessa Hodgson, Pembrokeshire County Council Cabinet Member for Social Services, said: “Our congratulations go to Keeley for her nomination and we have our fingers crossed for the awards evening.

“Keeley is representative of the hard work that goes on – often unseen – in the social services department to make people’s lives better.

“Every day our staff are going above and beyond and even more so during the pandemic to help and support those who need it. We are delighted Keeley’s efforts have been recognised.”

The Western Telegraph Health & Care Awards will be streamed live at Facebook.com/westerntelegraph at 7pm on Wednesday 30th December.
