Support for armed forces children

PRESELI Pembrokeshire Assembly Member has recently met with a representative from SSCE Cymru (Supporting Service Children in Education) to discuss ways in which to deliver the best possible support for children from armed forces families throughout the school system.
SSCE Cymru is a Welsh Local Government Association project initially funded by the MOD Education Support Fund and then by Welsh Government from 2019. The project offers toolkits to schools and parents and produces surveys and data studies.
Mr Davies, “It was a real pleasure to meet Millie from SSCE Cymru with my colleague Darren Millar AM, to look at ways in which we can better support armed forces children. Armed Forces personnel can be required to move to different locations throughout their career and that can sometimes be challenging for their children. Therefore, it’s crucial that support is made available to schools and families throughout that process. Pembrokeshire is of course, home to Cawdor barracks and I’m very proud of our armed forces community locally. I will of course continue to work with armed forces projects and stakeholders to ensure that the Welsh Government and local authorities are doing all that they can to ensure that the right level of support is provided to Service children within the school environment.”
