Tenby: Bomb squad called to investigate “possible ordnance” on beach

A BOMB disposal team was called to Tenby on Wednesday afternoon to investigate “possible ordnance” discovered on the sands.

A spokesman said: “At low tide this afternoon, Tenby Coastguard Rescue Team along with HM Coastguard Llansteffan attended the beach near Monkstone to investigate possible ordnance which had been reported by a member of the public.

“Upon arrival the coastguard rescue officers located the object on the beach and photographs were sent to Royal Logistic Corp bomb disposal unit for further advice. It was decided that RLC bomb disposal would attend and whilst waiting for their arrival, the CRO’s maintained a cordon around the object.

“When the bomb disposal team arrived, they examined the object and decided that it was safe to be removed from the beach.

“The object will now be further analysed by the Royal Logistic Corp explosive ordnance division.”
