Traeth-Llyn: St Davids RNLI volunteers launch to kayaker in the water

ST DAVIDS RNLI all-weather lifeboat Norah Wortley was launched at 11:48am on Saturday (11 May) to a kayaker reportedly in the water.

The kayaker was seen from the coastal path hanging on to the sea kayak approximately five miles north of the station off the coast of Traeth-Llyn beach.

The all-weather lifeboat arrived 15 minutes after the launching and located the casualty who had already been in the water for at least 40 minutes.

The volunteer crew brought him on board and administered casualty care, treating him for hypothermia and possible secondary drowning. Once stabilised and in warm dry clothing it was decided to return the casualty to the lifeboat station for further monitoring. After a period of monitoring it was decided he was fit to leave and was dropped back at his campsite.

St Davids Lifeboat was ready for service again at 1:05pm.

If you see anyone you believe to be in trouble call 999 immediately and ask for the Coastguard.
