Conwy Children’s Home contract awarded

Conwy County Council

MPH Construction has been awarded the contract to build the new Children’s Home at Glan yr Afon in Mochdre.

Conwy’s Cabinet considered the tender evaluation report on 14 November, and agreed to award the contract to MPH Construction.

The previous home on the site has been demolished and the plan is to build a new fit-for-purpose modern home, that’s in line with current legislation, for continued use by social services as a children’s home.

Cllr Liz Roberts, Conwy’s Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Safeguarding, said, “It is so pleasing to see this project moving forward. The positive impact on the lives of children in Conwy county is at the very core of Glan yr Afon. These facilities will help us to support local young people by providing a care service within their community.”

This is a Conwy County Borough Council project funded by Welsh Government HCF capital funding.

The legal processes have now been concluded and the contract awarded.

MPH Construction will move on site in the coming weeks and the work to construct Glan yr Afon is expected to take about 12 months.
