Former Llandudno social club could become 12 apartments

A FORMER Llandudno social club could be transformed into 12 apartments.

Mr W. Ward of Clwyd Enterprises, Chester, has applied to Conwy County Council, seeking planning permission to demolish the existing West Shore Social Club, on Bryniau Road, Llandudno.

Mr Ward wants to knock down the buildings and outbuildings and erect 12 apartments with a new internal access road.

The applicant wants to build with red-brick cladding and a grey slate roof and provide parking.

But some neighbours are unhappy with the plans.

Miss Amanda Thewlis lives nearby.

She commented, “I personally would not be happy for 12 apartments to go up, especially the over-affordable ones.

“Since the houses went out next to it, there is a constant nuisance from the kids that live there, and the end house nearest the road are always burning plastic.

“We have kids running over private property and also parts used to be flooded.

“We don’t need any more accommodation on this estate, and I’m pretty sure it would affect the prices of existing houses.”

She added, “When we first moved in, Fairways was private and a nice quiet estate to live on, but since then, it has gone down a fair bit, so I object to this.”

The planning application will likely be debated by councillors at a future planning committee meeting at Bodlondeb.
