TWO new seaside kiosks for Rhos-on-Sea could be given the green light at a planning committee at Bodlondeb next week.
Conwy has applied to its own planning department, seeking permission for the identical kiosks on the West Promenade.
Council officers have advised the committee they are ‘minded to grant’ conditional approval for the proposals as part of phase 2B of the Colwyn Bay flood defence and public realm improvements.
Welsh Water, however, have indicated they need access to the sewers and have requested a detailed plan of the kiosks.
The work is part of the wider Colwyn Bay flood defence scheme, split into three distinct aspects: coastal works, public realm promenade improvements, and landscaping works.
The Welsh Government-funded scheme incorporates improved coastal defences with promenade regeneration.
The new kiosks will replace the old ones demolished as part of the ongoing work.
Each kiosk will be situated either end of the Rhos-on-Sea section of the promenade, opposite where either end of the grass embankment starts and finishes.
The new kiosks will have unisex disabled toilets, baby changing facilities, and a storeroom.
The development will create two full-time and four part-time jobs.
Colwyn Bay Town Council has written in support of the plans.
The planning committee will debate the issue at next Wednesday’s meeting at Bodlondeb.
