A PROMINENT Ruthin building could soon be refurbished and transformed into a café.
Bernadette O’Malley has applied to Denbighshire County Council’s planning department, seeking permission to convert Ruthin’s Town Hall on Wynnstay Road.
Ms Malley plans to transform the council-owned grade-two listed building from its current use as a Citizens Advice Bureau into a café.
If the refurbishment gets the go-ahead, the work will include the windows being replaced, solar panels on the roof, alterations to the existing access ramp, and the installation of glazing at the front of the building.
Pedestrian access will also be improved with ramps and stairs installed at the rear, together with an intercom system, CCTV cameras, and an electric vehicle charging point.
Internal alterations will see the room layout altered, the formation of wall openings, removal of lifts and ramps, and toilets being installed, as well as kitchens, bars, a retractable stage, sound proofing, and staircases.
Alterations to the car park could include hardstanding and bollards, as well as bike and bin stores, new walls, fencing, and associated landscaping.
The planning application will likely be discussed at a future planning committee meeting at Denbighshire’s Ruthin County Hall HQ.
