Fire chiefs to investigate industrial park blaze

TODAY, fire officials will investigate the cause of a big industrial park fire.

The Herald reported yesterday (Oct 25)  that firefighters were dispatched to the incident in Rhydymwyn’s Antelope Industrial Park.

Residents were instructed to cover their windows and doors and avoid the area while firemen battled the blaze, which was visible from miles away due to the thick smoke.

Wednesday morning, a spokeswoman for the fire department confirmed that the last workers departed the scene shortly after midnight on Tuesday.

Officers will return to the area today to investigate the cause of the incident and the extent of the damage.

Following the event, one individual was transported to the hospital for additional treatment.

National Resources Wales, the largest government-sponsored organisation in Wales, was also present.

Anthony Randles, NRW Environment Team Leader for North East Wales, said: “We will monitor the impact on air quality and local watercourses and ensure the necessary measures are in place to minimise any impact.”
