AN ELECTION will be held after a Cyngor Gwynedd councillor has decided to step down after nearly 40 years.
Four candidates are set to contest the Teigl ward in the Ffestiniog area, following Cllr Jones’ retirement.
They are: Marc Lloyd Griffiths, of Llan Ffestiniog, Annibynnol (Independent), Andrew Joyce, of Gwynedd, for the Welsh Liberal Democrats, Geraint Parry, of Blaenau Ffestiniog, for Plaid Cymru and Hedd Vaughan Thomas, of Gwynedd, for the Welsh Conservative Party.
The poll will be taken on Thursday, April 10, between the hours of 7am and 10pm.
A Cyngor Gwynedd spokesperson said: “A seat has become available on Cyngor Gwynedd after Linda Ann Jones stepped down as councillor for the Teigl ward after nearly 40 years representing the area.
“The Council wishes to express our thanks for her work over the years and to wish her well for the future.
“A notice of election has been published and four nominations have been received, with a by-election to be held on April 10, 2025.”
