A vehicle has been located by Police in the search for four teenagers who disappeared on Sunday morning. Jevon Hirst, Harvey Owen, Wilf Henderson, and Hugo Morris, believed to be from Shrewsbury, are suspected to have traveled in the Harlech and Porthmadog areas of Gwynedd.
They were last spotted in a silver Ford Fiesta with the registration HY14 GVO, as stated by the police.
The Vehicle was located by a member of the public in the village of Garreg on the A4085, about three miles from Penrhyndeudraeth, near Porthmadog.
A North Wales Police spokesperson said: “Police officers and colleagues from other emergency services are currently at the location and the families of those involved have been kept updated,”
A police cordon has been set up nearby, the road has been closed and the Air Ambulance is believed to have landed in the area.
Harvey Owen’s mother, Crystal Owen revealed her surprise at her son’s unannounced camping plans. She believed he was staying at a friend’s grandfather’s house, not venturing into the challenging winter weather for a camping trip.
Harvey, a 17-year-old student at Shrewsbury College, last used his phone around noon on Sunday, failing to log onto WhatsApp, which his mother found unusual.
“I am frantically worried; we haven’t slept a wink. We are desperate to chase any lead we can,” said Ms. Owen, expressing hope that the teens are safe and awaiting rescue.
Concern has spread through the community, with family members pleading for assistance on social media, saying, “Please keep sharing… if anyone knows anything or can think of anything that may help find the boys, please contact the police. We are desperate for any news.”
At 04:30 GMT on Tuesday, a Caernarfon coastguard helicopter conducted a search in the northeastern vicinity of Porthmadog but returned to its base.
Mountain rescue teams were actively engaged in locating the vehicle driven by the four teenagers.
Chris Lloyd, the chairman of the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team, mentioned that teams dedicated yesterday to scouring the car parks in search of the teenagers’ vehicle which had not been located at that time.
