Son’s tribute to Wrexham-mad dad, Nigel Williams

Tributes were paid to a lifelong Wrexham AFC supporter who passed away tragically earlier this week.

Nigel Williams, a native of Wrexham, passed away at the age of 59 on Wednesday, October 26.

The night before, he had been at the Racecourse to witness his beloved Wrexham defeat Halifax Town 3-1.

Mr. Williams could frequently be spotted topless in the Tech End of the stadium celebrating the Reds’ victories.

He was a lifelong Wrexham fan who often attended both home and away matches.

Following Mr. Williams’s passing, hundreds of condolences have been posted on social media.

He leaves behind the children he raised with his late wife Helen, Anthony and Catherine, as well as his present wife Paula and stepdaughter Paris.

His son Anthony offered the following tribute: “Dad was a life-long Wrexham fan and would be seen many a time with his shirt off celebrating goals in the Tech End. He was also the life and soul of every party!”

The Wrexham AFC fans Twitter page also paid tribute to Mr Williams, saying: “Such sad news. A cracking man from what I encountered of him. The sort that leaves a lasting impression on you.

“A true fan there through thick and thin. The Tech End won’t be the same. There last night celebrating in style with his top off as usual.”

“A family friend described him as “the life and soul of the Eric Roberts Stand”. Very sad news. Here’s one of my favourite pictures of him (above).”
