A NUMBER of town and community council projects have been granted funding by Bridgend County Borough Council this month as part of its Town and Community Council Capital Grant scheme.
The approval came at a cabinet meeting held on October 22, and will see cash worth around £61,000 given out from the local authority towards half the costs of seven new projects based around the borough.
The successful projects in the latest round of funding included Porthcawl Town Council which will create a natural habitat and ecosystem for butterflies, as well as for Coity Higher Community Council, which will create a toddler/infant play area in Llys Gwyn Pendre.
It comes after three other projects were approved as part of the grant earlier on in 2024, though it was noted that one application for Llangynwyd Middle Community Council was rejected.
Members in attendance at the meeting welcomed the report which officers said had greatly helped community councils in support of their schemes. Councillor Eugene Caparros added: “Sometimes local people’s ambitions are best served by who I think are our most important partners, our town and community councils.”
