A NEW, short film showcasing the wide selection of ‘destination’ restaurants located in Bridgend town centre has been released as part of the council’s ‘Spend Summer in your town centre’ campaign.
Featuring footage of staff and customers at the nine local restaurants including Zia Nina, Poco Poco, Franco’s Ristorante Vecchio, La Cocina, Tholos, Il Colosseo, Marble Steakhouse, Corvo Lounge and Morgan’s Bistro and Cocktail Bar, the film showcases the town’s thriving night-time economy and highlights the top quality and diverse cuisine on offer in these culinary hotspots, that is attracting a multitude of visitors to the area.
The town centre is also firmly on the map as home to the ‘Best Restaurant in Wales 2023’ following Morgan’s Bistro and Cocktail Bar scooping the coveted title at the Best of Welsh Business Awards 2023 earlier this year. The Bistro was also named ‘South / West Bistro of the year’ at this week’s Food Awards Wales 2023.
Cabinet Member for Housing, Planning and Regeneration, Councillor Rhys Goode said: “These thriving businesses have provided a welcome boost to the local economy in Bridgend, and I’m delighted that as a result, the town is rapidly gaining a reputation as a ‘go-to destination’ for its outstanding, world cuisine.
“To have nine successful ‘destination’ restaurants in just one small town is phenomenal, and to see these businesses operating from buildings that have been regenerated as part of refurbishment schemes such as the Townscape Heritage Initiative and Transforming Towns grants – which included funding from the Welsh Government secured by the council for external and internal renovations to the buildings home to La Cocina, Marble Steakhouse, and Zia Nina, is such a fantastic outcome for the local economy and wider community.
“The proof, as they say, is in the pudding, and I would encourage anybody who has not yet sampled any of the delicious cuisine that these superb restaurants have to offer, right on our doorstep, to pay a visit. You will not be disappointed!”
