Witness appeal after Pengam collision

WE are appealing for witnesses after a road traffic collision on Commercial Street, Pengam, at around 1pm on Thursday 22 February.

Officers attended, along with personnel from the Welsh Ambulance Service and Welsh Air Ambulance, following a collision between a car and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, an 84-year-old woman was taken to hospital where she later died. Her next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.

A 54-year-old man from the Caerphilly area was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, he has since been released as our investigation continues.

Enquiries are ongoing and we’re asking for anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or any motorists travelling on Commercial Street between 12.30pm and 1pm on Thursday 22 February, to contact us.
