Fisherman injured at sea airlifted to Cardiff hospital in early morning rescue

A FISHERMAN has been airlifted to hospital after an accident on a trawler off the Pembrokeshire coast.

The incident began at around 03:45 HRS after a member of the crew sustained a serious injury.

The Belgian vessel was brought into Milford Haven and the coastguard rescue helicopter, Rescue 187, which is based at RAF St Athan was called to assist.

The casualty was later flown to hospital in Cardiff after being stabilised.

The Herald understands that the fishing boat involved is the Wilmar, although she has not been officially named by HM Coastguard.
