Tribute to ‘Well-loved’ man who ‘will be missed deeply’

THE FAMILY of a Merthyr Tydfil man, who died in a collision near Tredomen, has issued a tribute to him, describing him as ‘well-loved’ and someone who ‘will be missed deeply’.

Police received a report of a road traffic collision on the A472 at around 2.20pm on Tuesday, June 6.

Officers attended, along with personnel from the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Wales Air Ambulance and Welsh Ambulance Service.

The collision involved a van – a white Ford Transit – and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

He was later named as Darran Medd, 56, from Merthyr Tydfil; his next of kin are aware and are receiving support from specialist officers.

His family has issued the following tribute to him:

“Our loving father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, Darran was tragically taken from us far too soon.

“As a family we have received an outpouring of kindness and supportive words to which we are extremely grateful.

“Darran was well loved and will be missed deeply by all.

“We would like to thank the emergency services and members of the public for their efforts that day.”

Investigating officers want to speak to anyone who was travelling on the A472, near Tredomen between 2.10pm and 2.20pm.
