Council’s new Welsh language campaign launched at Eisteddfod Yr Urdd 2025

NEATH Port Talbot Council’s Dewch i Sgwrsio – Let’s Talk campaign has been launched at Eisteddfod Dur a Mȏr Parc Margam a’r Fro 2025.

The campaign signposts residents to opportunities and resources to use and learn Welsh. It is part of the council’s wider effort to promote the Welsh language, aligning with its Welsh Language Promotion Strategy and the Welsh Language Standards.

Neath Port Talbot Council Cabinet Member for Finance, Performance and Social Justice, Cllr Simon Knoyle, said: “We are delighted to launch Dewch i Sgwrsio – Let’s Talk which aims to help increase the visibility of Welsh across the county borough and across the council’s workforce.

“And the Eisteddfod yr Urdd is just the right place to launch a campaign to promote our Welsh language, culture, and heritage.”

Visitors to the Eisteddfod yr Urdd are being directed to resources, events and opportunities for people to learn Welsh, improve their language skills and improve their confidence in using Welsh.

A new page has been published on Neath Port Talbot Council’s website. It includes links to information on learning and using Welsh, Welsh language events and activities, ‘Fy hoff air Cymraeg’ (My favourite Welsh word) videos and a series of highly rated ‘Taith at Ddwy Waith’ videos from the Education, Leisure and Lifelong Learning Directorate, produced to support the council’s Welsh in Education Strategic Plan, and an excellent source of information on the benefits of a bilingual education.

The council’s Welsh Language Officers’ Group will be at the Eisteddfod yr Urdd every day this week with more information about the campaign. They will also be inviting visitors to take part in ‘My favourite Welsh Word’ videos and taking some fun photos at the Dewch i Sgwrsio – Let’s Talk photobooth.

All are welcome, so come on everyone…Dewch i Sgwrsio!
