There is currently a 60 minute traffic delay, due to an accident, on the eastbound M4 carriageway in Newport.
Currently, all lanes are blocked, and vehicles are passing on the hard shoulder between Junction 26 (A4051 Malpas Road) and Junction 25A (A4042 Newport/Cwmbran), as reported by the traffic monitoring service Inrix.
The congestion extends to Junction 29 (A48 Interchange), and on the westbound carriageway, there are delays as traffic reduces speed to observe the situation.
As of 9:11am a recovery vehicle is at the scene and it’s anticipated that the damaged vehicle will be removed shortly.
