Historic five-bedroom Bute Cottage could be among the oldest buildings in this South Wales area

STEEPED in local history, stone-built South Wales Bute Cottage is reputed to be among the oldest properties in the area.

The prominent five bedroom detached cottage with an array of period features stands in a rambling garden plot of about a third of an acre.

The cottage, on Llantrisant Road, Pontyclun, in Mid Glamorgan, is being sold later this month by South Wales based Paul Fosh Auctions.

Angie Davey, of the Newport auctioneers said: “The vendors of this one-off building believe Bute Cottage to be one of the oldest buildings in the area. Its style, position in the town and architecture certainly tend to underline this claim.

“The property, which has extensive internal stone work, now needs sympathetic updating for the modern age.

“The cottage has three reception rooms, a kitchen, utility room, inner landing/study area, shower room, five bedrooms and a bathroom. The lawned gardens include a patio area and side access to the front.

“There is a hardstanding area to the side. Highway consents will need to be obtained to lower the kerb to allow parking.

“The cottage has double glazing and gas central heating (not tested). The property, which has a guide price of £226,000-plus, is to be sold with vacant possession. Bute Cottage could achieve a monthly rental of £1,800 pcm if offered for rent on the open market.

Pontyclun is a village located in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. The village is served by Pontyclun railway station on the South Wales Main Line

Bute cottage is among almost ninety varied lots being offered for sale by Paul Fosh Auctions which starts at 12 noon on Tuesday, May 20 and ends from 5pm on Thursday, May 22.
