Plans for tattoo parlour on former tailors site approved

Torfaen Civic Centre in Pontypool

A FORMER tailors is to be converted to a tattoo parlour after council planners gave the go-ahead.

The shop on the upper floor of Cwmbran Shopping Centre’s Parade is understood to have been vacant since April last year. Its last known use was as a tailors.

The application for change of use permission was made on behalf of the shopping centre’s owners, L & C Investments Limited, by its Bristol-based agents D2 Planning.

Torfaen Borough Council planning officer Simon Pritchard said the new use would support the town centre: “Given the mix of other uses that exist at upper and lower floor levels elsewhere along The Parade, the principle of the change of use of the first floor of the building to provide a tattoo studio is considered to be acceptable and will add to the vitality and viability of the town centre.”

Though there is no on-site parking there are public car parks nearby and the town centre is accessible by public transport and walking.
