£100,000 boost for Llanelli’s Parc Howard Museum

Welsh Government investment to fund new activity room as part of £1.8m cultural modernisation scheme

PARC HOWARD Museum in Llanelli is set to benefit from a significant upgrade thanks to a £100,000 grant from the Welsh Government’s Cultural Capital Programme.

The funding will be used to create a new activity room at the museum, aimed at enhancing the visitor experience and increasing opportunities for community engagement. It forms part of a wider £1.8 million investment in libraries, museums and archives across Wales.

The Cultural Capital Programme is designed to support the modernisation of cultural facilities, making them more accessible, inclusive and responsive to local needs.

Llanelli Member of the Senedd, Lee Waters, welcomed the announcement, saying the investment would strengthen local services and improve community spaces.

“This means better facilities, more community use, and a stronger future for Parc Howard,” he said. “I’m delighted to see this kind of support for one of our most important cultural assets.”

Parc Howard Museum, housed in a historic mansion and set within public gardens, has long played a key role in preserving and showcasing Llanelli’s heritage. The new activity room is expected to host workshops, school visits, exhibitions and public events.

The Welsh Government said it was committed to supporting local authorities in creating vibrant cultural centres that serve both educational and social functions.

The funding announcement has been welcomed by local residents and campaigners who have long called for greater investment in the town’s cultural infrastructure.
