Joyce celebrates Carmarthenshire disability campaign

SENEDD member Joyce Watson attended an event to celebrate Leonard Cheshire’s My Voice My Choice campaign in Carmarthenshire.

The charity provides support to people with disabilities, helping them to live more independently. Participants of My Voice My Choice completed three workshops covering a wide range of issues including disability rights, social inclusion and mental health and wellbeing.

The Mid and West Wales member has supported the charity’s work for several years. Speaking after the event, held at Carmarthen Leisure Centre on 27 January, she said:

“My Voice My Choice is all about giving disabled people and their allies the advocacy skills, confidence and knowledge to make a positive difference to their lives and local communities.

“It was wonderful to meet so many inspiring people and hear their stories – congratulations to everyone involved.”

Rhian Stangroom-Teel, Leonard Cheshire public engagement manager for Wales added:

“Delivering My Voice My Choice across Carmarthenshire has been inspiring, with one participant at our celebration event stating that everyone should join My Voice My Choice as it’s educational, fun and a great reason to get out of the house.”
