Summer success for Llandeilo Bowls Club

LlANDEILO Bowls Club was represented for the first time at the Carmarthenshire short mat bowls awards ceremony held in Cross Hands on Friday 23rd June.

This is Llandeilo’s second league season with the club’s short mat team having been established 3 years ago.

The Llandeilo team were runners up in the league to Llanboidy. Jamie Davies, Captain of both Llandeilo’s short mat and the men’s lawn bowls teams playing singles for Llandeilo won the trophy for the best singles performance in all short mat divisions during the season.

Jamie and Doug Davies, captain of the club’s veterans lawn bowls team, won the short mat pairs shield.

The Llandeilo short mat team were also runners up in the triples and the rinks competitions to Pontargothi and Bronwydd respectively.

Friday night’s award ceremony was a pleasing conclusion to the season which will see Llandeilo elevated to the CSMB’s first division next season.

Another high point for the club has seen its president, Sara Nicholls, selected for the World Bowls competition which will be played out on the Gold Coast Australia at the end of August.

Sara will again proudly fly the flag for Wales as part of the Welsh squad putting Llandeilo firmly on the map once again.

In the intervening period Sara will continue to play at County and National levels with British International games being held in Ayr next week against England, Ireland, Jersey and Scotland.
