Dock man remanded into custody for robbery and theft

A PEMBROKE DOCK man has been remanded into custody for an alleged robbery and theft from a store.

On Saturday, April 1, shortly before 4pm, Anthony Bentley, of Old Coronation School, Meyrick Street, is alleged to have robbed a female at a shop in Bush Street, Pembroke Dock.

Within two hours of the report to the police, 49-year-old Bentley was arrested.

Bentley was charged with one count of robbery as well as theft from a shop relating to an incident on January 27.

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesperson said: “We attended a report of a robbery at a shop in Bush Street, Pembroke Dock, at shortly before 4pm on Saturday (1 April).

“Officers arrested Anthony Bentley, aged 49, within two hours of the report.

“He was charged with robbery, as well as theft from a shop relating to an incident on 27 January 2023, and appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court from custody on Monday.”

The court heard how Bentley is charged with one count of robbery for the incident on April 1, where he is accused of robbing a female of a quantity of cash and a mobile phone.

He is further charged with theft for the incident on January 27, where he is accused of stealing electronic items, food items and bedding to the value of £229.56 from B&M.

No pleas were entered for either offences.

Bentley was remanded into custody and will next appear at Swansea Crown Court on April 25 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
