League 1 West: Crymych stay top after beating Llangennech

CRYMYCH remain top of League 1 West after they beat Llangennech 17-5 on Saturday (Apr 1).

The home side were awarded a penalty try and also had a try from Carwyn Phillips, converted by Adam Phillips. Phillips added a penalty to give the league leaders a 17-0 lead.

Llangennech hit back with a try from Jordan Saunders but it was just a consolation effort.

Elsewhere, Newcastle Emlyn earned a narrow 20-17 win over Felinfoel to remain in second place. Tries for Emlyn were scored by Dean James and Llyr Jones while Shaun Leonard added two penalties and two conversions.

Crymych and Emlyn remain locked on 59 points at the top of the table with both having played the same amount of games.

Third placed Gowerton were beaten 24-22 by Gorseinon while Aberystwyth closed the gap to the top five with an 83-5 win over bottom side Pembroke.

Saturday’s other game saw Hendy earn a 46-13 win away at Penclawdd.
