League 3 West A: Neyland go fifth after seeing off Tregaron

NEYLAND moved into fifth place in League 3 West A on Saturday (Apr 1) as they beat Tregaron 64-0.

With the top four teams all chasing promotion, Neyland now sit as the best of the rest with nine wins from their 15 games so far this season.

Adam Peel got the home side going with an early try and George Evans converted to make it 7-0. Alex Codd and Stuart Phillips also went over for tries with Evans converting the second of those.

Harrison Grice went over twice, either side of a try for Ben Williams, shortly before the break and two more Evans conversions gave the hosts a 38-0 lead at half time.

Despite the scoreline, Tregaron, who had only travelled with 14 men, started well and came close to scoring on a couple of occasions. A couple of errors cost them the chance to score though and from one of those Neyland made their way upfield before George Evans added another try and conversion.

The visitors then had another scrum 5 metres out but the Pembrokeshire All Blacks were able to win the ball back.

Alex Codd then made his way over and Evans added the extras again.

Iestyn Evans and Ollie Rothero both dived over in the corner for late tries and one more Evans conversion gave them the 64-0 scoreline.

Elsewhere, Aberaeron moved to the top of the table thanks to their 42-12 winners at Pill Parks as they saw off a determined Llangwm side.

The win sees them take a two-point leader over previous leaders Lampeter but Aber have played three games more.
