Senior Cup: Saints edge past Cosheston with shootout win

ST CLEARS booked their place in the second round of the Pembrokeshire Senior Cup on Saturday (Oct 22), but only after a shootout win against Cosheston.

Josh Jones put the Division 1 Saints ahead after five minutes and he doubled their lead with 27 minutes gone.

Just two minutes later it was 3-0 as Ashley Williams scored.

Division 3 side Cosh pulled a goal back on the 40-minute mark through Nathan Ferrier.

The Saints held on to their 3-1 lead until the break but Cosheston continued to hit back in the second half.

Goals from Will Davies and Daniel Powers brought them level and neither side was able to find a winner.

In extra time it was Cosh who took the lead as Davis grabbed his second of the game.

In the last minute of extra time Jason Baxter scored for the Saints to force the game into penalties.

Corey Hill and scored their respective opening penalties and Jon Seeley then scored the Saints second penalty to make it 2-1.

Nathan Ferrier then had his penalty saved but Dorian Davies then missed for the Saints.

Will Davies then scored for Cosh to level the shootout at 2-2 after 3 penalties each.

Sam Nicholas scored for Saints and Thomas Matthews then scored for Cosh.

Will Evans then scored for the Saints but Stuart Ferrier saw his penalty saved, giving the Saints a 4-3 win.
