Local Swansea charity continues its mission to protect animals

SWANSEA-BASED animal charity, The Pettifor Trust, is committed to educating the public about animal welfare and supporting registered animal sanctuaries across South West Wales. Through their efforts, they have provided vital assistance to local sanctuaries such as, The Sheepdog/Collie Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre, and Llys Nini RSPCA.

Recent figures from RSPCA Cymru reveal a 29% increase in the number of animals abandoned in Wales over the past three years. With more animals in need than ever before, local charities like The Pettifor Trust play a crucial role in supporting rescue centres and promoting responsible pet ownership.

Rachel Wooldridge, Chair of the Pettifor Trust comments: It’s heartbreaking to see so many animals being abandoned.

“These are real animals that are scared, hungry, and in desperate need of care. That’s why we’re committed to supporting local rescue centres and encouraging responsible pet ownership. The community’s support is what makes our work possible, and together, we can give these animals a second chance at a happy life.”

To help fund their initiatives, The Pettifor Trust operates two charity shops in Swansea, one in Sketty and another in Killay where they sell clothing, toys, and other pre-loved items.
