A charity in Swansea that tackles poverty and hunger has received a £1,000 donation from the Amazon fulfilment centre in the city.
Sketty Foodbank provides emergency food, toiletries, baby essentials and household goods to individuals and families in crisis in Swansea, including asylum seekers and refugees.
The donation from the Amazon team will go towards purchasing much needed toiletry and cleaning items such as toothpaste, washing up liquid and washing powder.
Dan Boulger, Site Leader at Amazon in Swansea, said:
“No one should have to worry about going hungry, but unfortunately the problem is becoming more prevalent every day in Swansea and beyond. Sketty Foodbank is a wonderful charity in our community that that helps to combat food poverty and hunger, and we’re pleased to support the charity’s staff and volunteers with this donation.”

Community donations and employee volunteering are just two of the ways Amazon supports the communities in and around its operating locations across the UK. Amazon provides students, teachers and parents with free computer science and STEM education programmes through Amazon Future Engineer and has teamed up with charity partner Magic Breakfast to deliver more than six million healthy breakfasts to children at risk of hunger in disadvantaged areas of the country.
Earlier this year, Amazon partnered with Comic Relief to become the official home of the Red Nose. Amazon employees across the UK hosted fundraising activities and together with their customers and partners, raised £2.7 million to support those going through the toughest time of their lives.
