YMCA Cardiff Housing Association has appointed Richard Miles, Head of Savings & Marketing/Area Manager East at Swansea Building Society to its Board.

Miles brings a wealth of expertise and strategic insight to his new role. Prior to his appointment at YMCA Cardiff Housing Association, Miles served as a distinguished Board Member of Linc Cymru, showcasing his commitment to community development and social housing initiatives.

Following the merger of Linc Cymru with Pobl Group and the consequent conclusion of his tenure on the Linc Board, Miles sought a fresh challenge and an opportunity to continue his impactful contributions to the community. His successful application and subsequent appointment to the Board of YMCA Cardiff Housing Association affirm his unwavering dedication to supporting vulnerable communities and advocating for accessible housing solutions.

Miles’s appointment comes at a pivotal moment for YMCA Cardiff Housing Association, an organisation dedicated to providing safe and affordable housing solutions to individuals and families in need. With a steadfast commitment to social justice and community empowerment, YMCA Cardiff Housing Association plays a vital role in fostering stability and resilience within the local community.

YMCA Cardiff Housing Association provides temporary accommodation for homeless people of both sexes, 18 plus, and various backgrounds. It also provides support to its residents in their search for permanent accommodation and focuses on improving self-esteem, developing skills and providing support, advice and advocacy around development, training, volunteering, employment, and life skills. The YMCA also runs a very successful Private Rented Scheme, which enables it to provide an additional housing option to meet the move-on needs of its service users.

The anticipated merger with YMCA Cardiff charity, expected in October pending confirmation, marks a significant milestone in the organisation’s mission to enhance community support and expand its reach. This transformative union will create a unified Board poised to lead the organisation into a new era of innovation and impact.

Richard Miles, Swansea Building Society and YMCA Cardiff Housing Association Board member, said, “I am truly honoured to join the Board of the YMCA Cardiff Housing Association. I look forward to collaborating with fellow board members and stakeholders to address the critical housing needs of our community and drive positive change. I would like to thank Alun William, our CEO, and the Society’s Board for allowing me to continue supporting local social housing organisations.”

Andrew Templeton, Group Chief Executive at YMCA Cardiff Group, added, “The addition of Richard to our Board is a testament to our commitment to excellence and innovation in addressing the housing challenges facing our community. His wealth of experience and dedication to our shared mission will undoubtedly strengthen our efforts to create positive change and improve the lives of those we serve.”
