Town earn fifth win in a row

CARMARTHEN Town continued their impressive performances of late with this convincing fifth win on the trot against a battling Trefelin side.

After a frantic start to the game Town settled down and began imposing themselves with full backs Sam Parsons and Jordan Vickers stretching the home defence, a Parsons overlap in the 8th min found Noah Daley who unleashed a fierce drive from 20 yards which keeper Lucas Cavalcante did well to turn the ball to safety, a few minutes later Daley saw another goal-bound effort again which was well saved by the keeper.

With Vickers and Bradley Gibbings working tirelessly down the right their flow of crosses were just inches away from being met by Liam Thomas and Daley who just failed to get the final touch.

During the remaining period of the first half Trefelin tried their utmost to wrest control from a dominant Town side but were rebuffed by an alert and solid performance by the visitors defence of Vickers, Lee Surman, Trystan Jones and Parsons who had Nick Jones in goal dealing comfortably with crosses and long balls that Trefelin used to little effect.

Yet another Gibbings mazy dribble and shot in the 50th min saw another fine save from Cavalcante, but Trefelin were undone in the 61st min when referee Tegid Richards waved play on after a heavy tackle from behind on Liam Thomas and Tom Dyson neatly slipped in Daley who ran through and rounded the keeper to slot home.

It was the energetic Dyson who added the second when after good interplay by Greg Walters and Will Rickard the ball was fed to Dyson whose shot from 18 yards had a slight deflection which left the goalkeeper with little chance.

Substitute Josh Gibson was also a constant thorn in Trefelin’s flesh and brought out the best in the home keeper and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet with two efforts on goal.

Will Rickard added a deserved third goal in injury time to cap a fine individual performance when his sublime angled drive from 15 yards left the keeper stranded as it flew into the top far corner.
