Two individuals, believed to be a 72-year-old woman and a 74-year-old man, have been found dead at a residence in Cardiff, according to South Wales Police. Emergency services were alerted to the property on Morfa Crescent in Trowbridge shortly after 2.50pm on Saturday.
While formal identification is pending, authorities suspect the deceased to be the elderly couple. Police have confirmed that the next of kin are being supported during this distressing time.
Ongoing Investigation
The circumstances surrounding their sudden deaths are currently under investigation by South Wales Police. A rifle was recovered from the property, and it has been noted that a dog was also found deceased at the scene.
Detective Chief Inspector Lianne Rees addressed the community, stating: “We understand this incident has shocked and saddened the local community. Extensive inquiries are being conducted to establish the circumstances leading up to the incident. We are awaiting the results of post-mortem examinations which will confirm the cause of death. Currently, we are not actively seeking anyone else in connection with their deaths.”
The police have expressed gratitude to the local community for their patience and understanding as cordons remain in place during the investigation.
