Vikings close the gap

HAKIN UNITED closed the gap to Division 1 leaders Goodwick United to nine points on Saturday (Jan 8) as they beat Fishguard 5-1 at Tregroes.

It was one of only two games played in the Division as other teams battled covid-19 or waterlogged pitches.

After an even start it was Hakin who took the lead just before the half hour mark as Mark Jones got his name on the score sheet.

Two minutes later the Vikings doubled their lead as Camron Thomas found the back of the net.

Shane Walsh then got his name on the score sheet five minutes before half time to give the away side a commanding 3-0 lead.

In the second half the hosts looked for a way back into the game but it was Hakin who got their fourth goal, courtesy of Ben Aldred, to all but seal the win.

Sean Seymour-Davies did pull a goal back for Fishguard with ten minutes to go but it proved to be a consolation.

Jack Britton added Hakin’s fifth goal of the game three minutes from the end to complete the scoring.

On Saturday, January 15, Hakin travel to Monkton while Fishguard host Hundleton.
