IT Has been a busy time for the Soroptimist International of Milford Haven group who have held several fund raising events and speaker meetings since their AGM in April.

These include a Charity Film Show and afternoon tea hosted by the Torch Theatre in May, which raised £424 for local Alzheimer’s Society. In July, a tombola at the Milford Haven Carnival was arranged, raising £240 for Macmillan Nurses: at this event the group met a fellow soroptimist from Austria, who was sailing around the UK and happened to stop off at Milford Marina. She recognised the Soroptomist logo and came to say hello.

In September Mary Chadwick, Conservation Officer for Pembrokeshire Coast National Park came to speak to the group about conservation work in the county.

Their most recent event was a Fashion Show hosted by Vanessa at Image where over £1000 was raised for the Paul Sartori Foundation. This was an excellent evening, enjoyed by all, and included one of the members modelling ten outfits.

The group continues to go from strength to strength with new members joining. They also have a programme of action including a beach clean, involvement in the big plastic count, a pop-up prom dress shop for school leavers and recycling various items of jewellery, coins, mobiles and ipads etc. to raise money to provide training for women wishing to update their skills.

Please contact Debbie Vines 01646 600679 or Erene Grieve 01646 278826 if you would be interested in joining the group.
