ON Thursday (Aug 15), Montgomeryshire Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) held a highly successful Open Day at Newtown Police Station. This event marked the first time the station had opened its doors to the public since 2019, offering a unique opportunity for the local community to engage with various specialist police departments and community partnership agencies.
The event featured a range of police demonstrations that provided attendees with an insight into the diverse aspects of police work. Among the highlights were guided tours of the custody facilities, demonstrations on methods of entry, and displays showcasing the use of police drones and dog tactics.
In addition to these demonstrations, the Open Day also hosted a wide variety of stalls representing key stakeholders, local businesses, community projects, and support services. This allowed visitors to learn more about the important work being done in their community and the support available to them.
The Montgomeryshire NPT expressed their gratitude to all who attended, acknowledging the importance of such events in fostering strong relationships between the police and the local community. The Open Day was seen as a vital step in enhancing community engagement, with many visitors praising the informative and welcoming atmosphere of the event.
Representatives from Newtown and Llanidloes Police, as well as officers from Welshpool, Llanfyllin, and Llanfair Caereinion, were also present, underscoring the collaborative spirit within the local policing teams.
As the community reflects on the success of this event, there is optimism that such initiatives will continue to build trust and cooperation between the police and the residents they serve.
