LAMPETER TOWN take on St Clears this Saturday (May 13), a game which could decide the destiny of the League 3 West A title.
Ahead of the game, St Clears sit top of the table, but just a point ahead of Lampeter. This will be the Saints’ last game while Lampeter will have one more to play after.
Should St Clears win with a bonus point the title will be theirs but a Lampeter win will give them the title ahead of their final game against Tregaron.
If neither side were to pick up a bonus point, a St Clears win would put them on to 99 points, meaning Lampeter would catch them with a bonus point win in that final game.
However, should Lampeter pick up a losing bonus point from a low-scoring Saints win, Lampeter could also catch them if they get a bonus point win in their final game.
It promises to be a mouth-watering clash between the league’s two best sides.
On Wednesday night (May 10) St Clears warmed up with a 36-0 win away at St Davids to send themselves back to the top of the table.
Lampeter played in Neyland on Tuesday (May 9), earning a 42-12 win. Brymor Jones, Guto Ebbsworth and Osian Jones were among the try scorers in that game.
Loose Head prop Luke Griffiths-Dawes scored two tries for Neyland in that game with one conversion coming from George Evans but Lampeter were well ahead at half time with the scoring reading 5-28 in their favour.
St Clears and Lampeter played each other in the reverse fixture just last weekend (May 6). It was a close encounter but Lampeter came out on top with a 24-28 win.
All roads now lead to Lampeter for Saturday’s winner-takes-all game.
Saturday’s other game sees Cardigan hosting Pembroke Dock Quins
