LOCAL GROUP Aberaid recently joined forces with the student group ‘Aber 2 Calais’ to create an event to raise money for the children in the Calais and Dunkirk refugee camps.

The fundraiser, which took place in Ceredigion Museum, managed to raise an impressive £600 for the cause, which will be shared between charities Aid Box Convoy, Calais Action and Dunkirk Children’s Playground Project.

Lindsey Gaunt, one of the organisers of the event, said:

“Aberystwyth showed again that compassion and solidarity are values true to people’s hearts here, as people donated, sang, danced, ate cake and enjoyed themselves.”

Elin Jones AM commented: “Thanks for the croeso yesterday and for all the work you do in support of refugees. Diolch!”

Aberaid would like to thank Ceredigion Museum for hosting the event, Isaac’s Sweet Shop for the fabulous donations, the Aber 2 Calais student group for their help, their music and their brilliant film.
