Members of Cor Bois y Felin: Presenting cheque to Priory Day Hospital

A MALE voice choir based in Bancyfelin has donated £765 to the Parkinson’s Disease Service at Glangwili Hospital.

Roderick Hancock, a member of Côr Bois y Felin, said that the money was raised by singing carols in Bancyfelin and in the Carmarthen branch of Tesco. Together with members of the Choir Emyr Vaughan and Bruce Wallace, Roderick presented the cheque to Laura Edwards, Parkinson’s Disease Nurse Specialist at the Priory Day Hospital which is based at Glangwili.

Laura said that the Day Hospital is part of the Hywel Dda University Health Board’s service to those who suffer from Parkinson’s Disease in the Carmarthen area, and she would ensure that the money will be spent to benefit the patients who use the service at the present time.

After the presentation, Emyr Vaughan, Secretary to the Choir said that Côr Bois y Felin had been going for about eight years and performs at concerts, weddings and other social events. Singing in Welsh and English, they sing modern songs as well as those from the traditional Welsh repertoire. The Choir has performed with Katherine Jenkins in Cardiff and last year went on a short tour in Ireland. They have also produced a CD of their most popular songs.

The 25-plus members rehearse at Bancyfelin Village Hall on Monday evenings at 8.00pm. New members are always welcome.
