CEREDIGION WEIGHT WATCHERS who attend meetings run by Double Diamond Weight Watchers Leader Eleri Retallick in Aberaeron, Llandysul, Lampeter and Cardigan have shed an amazing 256 stones between them so far in 2016.
Researchers estimate that it may be possible to prevent as many as 9 out of every 100 cancer cases (9%) by changing our diets. Research also suggests that about 5 out of 100 cancers (5%) could be avoided by maintaining a healthy body weight.
As the weight loss has been so dramatic on the new Smart Points Plan introduced in January, the Weight Watchers members in Ceredigion are shrinking inside their clothesespecially their bras.
It was then decided that it would be an idea to collect bras that no longer fitted for a good cause. Over the last few weeks members have been donating unwanted bras and to date have amassed an amazing 500 bras.
Eleri Retallick said: “My home is being inundated with bras, but having had the Bra Bank delivered by ‘Against Breast Cancer’ they are now going to a good cause.”
For every tonne of bras collected, Against Breast Cancer receives £700 to fund research to improve detection and increase survival after breast cancer diagnosis.
Eleri added: “Furthermore, those that are in good condition get whisked away to start a new life on the other side of the world in Africa where bras remain too expensive to produce locally. I am very proud of all my WeightWatchers members who have helped to fund some research by losing weight – that could ultimately save lives.”
