Festival of Senses back in Llandeilo this winter

The annual pre-Christmas festival will be coming back to Llandeilo November 18 – 20.
King Street in Llandeilo will be closed for traffic and will host an entertainment stage, street food, Santa’s Grotto and a kids’ fun fair ride. The Mayor will be switching on the Christmas tree and Santa will make an appearance on his sleigh on Friday night (and will be available in the Grotto all weekend).
School children will walk from CK’s to King street with lanterns Friday night and meet Santa on King Street after, with hymns being sung and further stage entertainment taking place into the evening.
Hengwrt (formerly known as Shire Hall) and Teilo Church will also host workshops and various fun activities for children and the Gwili café will utilise outside areas on Rhosmaen Street to widen the festival area and experience.
“This year everyone is getting involved,” says festival deputy chair and business owner Debbie Ince. “Llandeilo pubs all put on extra music in the evenings and even during the day, so even in bad weather you’re bound to have a good time. Davies & Co on Station Road, Flows on Market Street, The White Horse, the Salutation Inn and Yr Hen Vic all confirmed music acts. Arts and Craft stalls will be in the Civic Hall as usual, we’ll have a Food Marquee on top of the car park, with cooking demonstrations planned for Saturday and Sunday, and Llandeilo Cantorian Singers will perform Messiah Saturday night in the church.”
A 5k Santa run will take place Sunday morning, raising funds for the Tregib Sports Facilities and other charities and community groups will be present at the festival, too, including Llandeilo Friends of Tenovus and Sunflowers Wales.
A Park and Ride service is provided from Beechwood estate, Ysgol Bro Dinefwr (after school finished Friday 4:30pm) and Tregib Sports facilities.
“It’s been a turbulent year for us,” says festival chair Christoph Fischer. “Prices are going up, sponsorship and voluntary contributions to the funds are down and due to personal circumstances changing we lost a few committee members. It’s been hard work for the people left on the committee but we were determined to keep this important community and fun event going and got there in the end. We can’t wait to welcome visitors and residents in November.”
