Martin Hulbert: Designing new suites for The Grove

LEADING interior designer Martin Hulbert will begin in first project in Wales at The Grove in Narberth.

Due to be completed in Spring 2016, Martin Hulbert will design six new luxury suites and refurbish an existing suite and three lounge spaces at the hotel.

This will be Martin Hulbert’s first Welsh project, having worked with many of the UK’s leading hotels including The Dorchester Collection’s Coworth Park, The Grove in Hertfordshire, Barnsley House, Abbey Hotel in Bath, Chewton Glen’s Tree Houses and the recent refurbishment of Cliveden House in Berkshire.

The new designs are set to enhance the guest experience at the hotel, exhibiting Martin Hulbert Design’s trademark elegance and style at thesame time as incorporating elements of Welsh heritage.

Commenting on the project, Martin Hulbert said: “The Grove of Narberth is such an inspiring place. There is a real originality, creativeness and honesty to it – there is no pretension at all. Because of that, and because of its wonderful natural setting, it’s like working with untapped goods. We will be using lots of local materials; steel, metal, coal, wood, wool, granite and stone and we are finding so many people in the area to make things andto inspire us.

“This project is not about spending lots of money; it’s about being considered, taking into account its history and what the owners have already achieved. Since they bought the house in 2007, after it had been derelict for 8 years, The Grove has become such a favourite and has won so many awards… We are so lucky to be doing this job.”

Owner Neil Kedward said: “We are really excited to be working with Martin Hulbert Design and are having lots of fun redesigning The Grove’s interiors. Martin will be bringing us bang up to date and there will undoubtedly be a good dose of his wit and charm coming through in the design.”
