A HOUSEBUILDER has donated 50 colouring books to the Kids Cancer Charity in Swansea.

Bellway Wales, which is building 184 new homes at Parc Mawr, in Penllergaer near Swansea, has given the books for young cancer patients across South Wales.

Kids Cancer Charity was set up in Swansea in 1989 and supports children affected by cancer throughout the UK by helping the whole family – from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond. The organisation offers emotional support, play therapy and free holiday breaks.

Danielle Brown, Sales Advisor at Bellway Homes visited the charity’s headquarters in Waunarlwydd Road on to meet the team.

Victoria Jones, General Manager for the Kids Cancer Charity, said: “Kids Cancer Charity is so grateful for the donation of colouring books from Bellway. These gifts will be distributed to children aged between three and 18 throughout South Wales. Putting smiles on the faces of the children we support is what we do.

“The charity helps children affected by cancer and their families by offering specialist play therapy and respite breaks within the UK, Disneyland Paris and Disney World Florida.  We rely on the generosity of the public and organisations to provide our services.”

Rhodri Davies, Sales Manager at Bellway Wales, said: “Part of our ethos at Bellway is to get involved in the local community and it was great to be able to pop along to the Kids Cancer Charity HQ which is just four miles away from our development at Parc Mawr. We chatted to the staff and got a better understanding of how they operate.

“The charity does invaluable work to support children and their families who have had their worlds turned upside down after a cancer diagnosis. They provide a range of brilliant services which include the provision of free holidays to give children and their loved ones special memories to share at what is such a difficult time.

“We hope that the colouring books will provide some fun and distraction for these young patients.”
