Local access forum in new membership drive

CARMARTHENSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL has placed an appeal on its website for a local forum. Carmarthenshire’s Local Access Forum (LAF) has asked for people who have an interest in access in the countryside to come and join them. They are actively looking for new members who have an interest in public rights of way and the countryside and who want to make a difference. From horse riders to canoeists, to fishermen to 4 x 4 drivers,  they say all are welcome.

Forum Chair Mark Hadley said: “We are looking for a broad range of people that use the countryside including walkers, horse riders, cyclists, dog owners, canoeists, fishermen, disabled groups, 4×4 enthusiasts, trail riders, people with interests in green spaces and parks, farmers, young farmers, landowners, people with an interest in tourism, outdoor activity instructors and people involved in nature and conservation.”

The county website states that the LAF meet quarterly and these meetings are open to the public, which often include presentations from organisations involved in countryside issues. Membership is voluntary, and each term lasts for three years, with some travel expenses covered.

For an informal discussion regarding membership the chair and vice chair can be contacted as follows:  Chair: Mark Hadley (Guest house owner and 4×4 enthusiast), call 01550 750274,  email [email protected] Vice chair: Karen Burch (member of the British Horse Society), call 01269 843796,  email [email protected] .
