Flying start for students

LAST week, the University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s Team MCR had an impressive visit to Silverstone Circuit last week.

The student-led team came 2nd at the Silverstone Grand Prix’s historic MG Live event, which is the largest MG event in the world.

The team came 2nd in their final race, the best result they have ever achieved at this event.

The team said: “Sunday was an important day! Qualifying was at 10am and Tim was raring to get out there. Unfortunately we were pipped to 4th place at the last minute but still ended up coming in with a great time – not bad!

“The race kicked off in the afternoon, later than planned after an earlier crash had left the fluids all over the starting position. Thankfully it proved to be no issue, and Tim managed to get another of his lightning starts to pull into second place at the first turn. The team held its breath for the final 2 minutes until we saw the car take the chequered flag in 2nd place.

“2 races into the season, 2 podium finishes – not a bad start to the season! Hopefully we can keep up this progress and finish as strongly everywhere else!”
