NFU Cymru appoints new group secretary

NFU Cymru and NFU Mutual have appointed Rhodri Thomas as the Assistant Group Secretary at their Carmarthen branch office.

Rhodri has a wealth of agricultural and financial services experience having grown up on the family farm in Llangynog, and having held a number of roles during his career with NFU Mutual.

Rhodri studied at the University of Wales, Trinity Saint David in Carmarthen before starting work with NFU Mutual six years ago, firstly in their Llandeilo office before moving to the Carmarthen office in 2015.

Rhodri said: “Having been brought up on the family farm I have a clear understanding of the issues farmers face on a daily basis. I think this will help me in my new role and allow me to assist our membership with their business needs. I am looking forward to playing an active role for NFU Cymru and NFU Mutual in the local community, which happens to be my home town, meeting members, current and new, building on relationships and growing the business moving forward.”

John Mercer, NFU Cymru Director said: “I am absolutely delighted that we have managed to secure the services of Rhodri, who brings a vast wealth of farming and local knowledge, practical experience and business acumen to this vitally important role.

“The strength of NFU Cymru is the strong team we have across Wales representing our members and I know that Rhodri will thrive in his new role and continue to ensure our membership within the Carmarthen branch receive the highest standard of service possible.”
