RESPONDING to Plaid Cymru’s manifesto in which they set out plans to cut £300m annually from the Welsh NHS budget, Deputy Health Minister Vaughan Gething, told The Herald: “Plaid Cymru’s plans to take £1.5 billion out of our NHS would undermine the investment that Welsh Labour have made over the past five years and hurt communities up and down Wales.

“This huge funding cut will come on top of their plans for an expensive reorganisation that will move decisions on health away from local health boards to a central Cardiff-based quango.

These policies will do nothing to improve outcomes, nothing to cut waiting lists and nothing to improve patients’ experience of the NHS.

“Welsh Labour have invested in our NHS. Spending is higher than in England and in key areas like cancer care, mental health, stroke care and bed-blocking we are seeing real improvement. Plaid Cymru will turn the clock back on the solid foundations we have laid.”
