CAREW Seconds earned victory on Saturday (May 7) as they beat Pembroke by 12 runs.

Carew batted first after Pembroke had chosen to field and they scored 167-8 in their 45 overs.

Nick Scourfield made an early score of 22 and fellow opener Haydn Shapcott scored 18.

Scott Richards scored 10 before being bowled by Jack Harries and Ceri Brace scored 18 before he was caught by Sam Davies off the bowling of Steve Durston.

That left Carew on 91-4 but Gareth Lewis and Barry Evans looked to push their score on.

Lewis hit a big six down the ground but soon after he saw Evans bowled by Sam Davies.

Lewis and Jac Scourfield then shared 44 runs for the sixth wicket with the former reaching his half century.

Scourfield was then run out on a score of 15 by James Tomkinson.

Moments later, Lewis, who had hit three fours and four sixes in his score of 66 from 59 balls, was also run out by Tomkinson.

Jack Harries picked up the late wicket of Dom Booth but a late boundary from George Waters helped Carew to their total.

Andrew Price fell to the bowling of Mark White before Paul White fell to Barry Evans on a score of 29.

Mark White then bowled Luke Butler on a score of 14 and Evans did the same to James Tomkinson before getting Will Davies caught by Gareth Lewis.

That left Pembroke staring at defeat with the score on 93-7 but Alan Webster and Steve Durston provided some resistance as they shared 37 runs for the eighth wicket.

Webster scored 16 but he was caught and bowled by George Waters and Sam Davies then fell to Mark White.

Time was beginning to run out for Pembroke and although Durston reached a score of 37 (three fours), he was bowled by Ceri Brace to bring the game to a close with Pembroke falling 12 runs short.
