Division 2 round up: Johnston win and Llechryd go top

JOHNSTON earned their first win in Division 2 on Saturday (May 28) as they beat Carew seconds by 28 runs.

They scored an impressive 284-4 in their innings with Lee Summons finishing not out on 103.

He had goof support from Andrew Harries who finished unbeaten on 86 while Josh Hicks had earlier scored 56.

Ethan Hall claimed two wickets for Carew while Kerry Waters finished with figures of 1-27.

In reply, Nic Scourfield was Carew’s top scorer with a knock of 67. Scott Richards added 45 and Hayden Shapcott finished unbeaten on 36.

It wasn’t enough to claim victory though as Carew fell just short, finishing their innings on 256-8.

Keegan Codd claimed three wickets for Johnston while Summons added to his earlier century with figures of 2-57.

Dredge steers Lamphey home

AN unbeaten century from Lamphey’s David Dredge helped his side to victory over Llanrhian on Saturday.

Llanrhian were asked to bat after Lamphey won the toss and they scored 186-9 in their innings.

Jonathan Strawbridge scored 58 and Iwan James added 25 for the hosts.

Peter McGilloway bowled well as he took three wickets, as did Hywel Gibbs who finished with figures of 3-48. Grant Cole also claimed 2-26 for the visitors.

In reply, David Blackwell made an early score of 21 but there was little else to trouble Andrew Tait and David Dredge.

Tait finished unbeaten on 45 while Dredge was not out on 105 as they saw Lamphey to victory.

Llechryd go top after beating Pembroke

LLECHRYD now sit top of Division 2 after they beat Pembroke by eight wickets.

Pembroke won the toss and batted first but they were bowled out for 120.

Paul White scored 22 and Jack Harries added 25 but it wasn’t enough as Rhys Beard finished with excellent figures of 4-15.

Udell Preville (2-18) and David Dunfee (2-19) also bowled well.

In reply, Joe Mansfield scored 17 early on before he became one of Rob Smythe’s (2-24) victims.

That was as good as it got for Pembroke who could not remove Udell Preville and David Dunfee.

Preville finished unbeaten on 72 while Dunfee was unbeaten on 22.Whitland also earned victory on Saturday (May 28) as they beat Hook.

Whitland earn fourth win

WHITLAND scored 171-8 in their innings as Andrew Edwards top scored with 52. Gethin Scourfield added 23 and Conor Bowen finished not out on 30.

Hook’s Harry Makepeace claimed three wickets for figures of 3-33 while Brennan Martin also claimed two wickets.

In reply, Makepeace top scored with 32 runs and Martin finished unbeaten on 16 but it wasn’t enough for victory.

Conor Bowen claimed three wickets for 13 runs and Cian Rees finished with good figures of 2-20. There were also two wickets for Martin.

That saw Hook bowled out for just 121, giving Whitland victory by 50 runs.
